Padstow School Information
Padstow School is a single form entry primary school catering for pupils aged 4yrs+ to 11yrs. Our pupils come from the Padstow area and from the surrounding areas of Trevone, St Issey, St Merryn, Rumford and St Eval.
The school is housed in modern premises opened in December 1988. The governors of the school have maintained the facilities to a high standard and complemented the existing building with additional facilities.
We have recently completed a new building that was opened in December 2005 by Rick Stein. The new building houses a music room and staff facilities. The children themselves were heavily involved in the new build which was designed and built around the principles of sustainability. The children themselves helped to build the cob walls! The completed building has drawn national media interest from the Times and the BBC as it is a unique construction.

Class Facilities
Pupils are taught in purpose built teaching areas. The infant classes have access to their own practical areas including water and sinks. The junior classes have shared access to adjacent practical areas again with water, sinks and the room to paint, use clay or other 'messy' materials.
Outdoor Facilities
The school has the benefit of the usual playground and grassy areas which provide sufficient space for pupils to run around and let off steam. During the drier months pupils are allowed access to the fields during playtimes and midday breaks. The playground is regularly re-marked to provide a variety of traditional playground games (e.g. hop-scotch) and the is school also providing zoned games and activities over lunchtime. We have recently completed the construction of a science garden area with a pond, sensory maze and sculpture forest.ICT Resources
The school has exceptional access to computers and other ICT resources. We have a computer and a laptop in each class and an ICT suite of thirteen machines all connected, via broadband, to the Internet. We also have a suite of 15 laptops that are available for class use. We have networked computers in the library, music room and resource base for more general access. We have interactive Whiteboards in each classroom and access to a suite of software called "Knowledgebox" which is delivered through a caching server.
All of this means that the curriculum is delivered effectively using the best of modern technology.
